Resume Formatting: After completing this class, you will be able to format a professional resume which will be appealing to the viewer. You will learn the do's and dont's when formatting a resume. You will also learn how to minimize the wording in order to keep your resume down to one page.
Professional Interviewing: After completion of this class you will know how to sit properly while interviewing, why eye contact is very important, how to dress, what colors not to wear on an interview, what questions to ask and what questions not to ask as well as why it’s important to send a thank you note to the interviewing manager after you’ve completed your interview process.
Job Workshop: After completing this class you will know how to look for employment in the area where you possess skills. You will also learn what jobs you should never apply for.
Knowing how to communicate with professionals: After completing this class you will know how to communicate with people on a professional level.
GED Preparation:
After completing the GED preparation class, you will be ready to take the state exam in order to obtain your GED. We will review English, Math, History, Literature and Science. MINORT, Inc will also pay the exam fee for each youth to take the exam. In the case that they fail the first exam, he/she will be eligible to request another payment to be made on his/her behalf to retake the exam. Each youth will only be able to request a maximum of two payments.
Essay Writing:
After completing this class you will know how to write an essay. You will also know when and where to use punctuation, as well as the meaning of a run on sentence.
After-school Programs: MINORT, Inc offers after-school programs to all youth which includes tutoring, homework assistance and recreation.
Youth to Youth Mentor Program: MINORT, Inc Youth to Youth Mentor Program allows youth who are 16 -19 years of age and who have completed MINORT, Inc Youth to Youth Mentor Program’s class mentor other youth at the center under the supervision of their mentor.
Mentor Program: All youth will be assigned a mentor who will spend time with the youth at the center in order to develop a mentor/youth relationship. Mentors will visit the youth’s school at least one time per month in order to determine what areas they may need extra help. (All mentors employed by MINORT, Inc have gone through an extensive background check and passed). more......
Voicing your opinion in a respectful manner:
All youth will learn how to express themselves in a respectful manner. They will also learn that it’s not necessary to raise their voice when expressing themselves..
It’s okay to agree to disagree: All youth will learn that it’s okay to agree with their peers to disagree. They will understand that people don’t always agree with each others opinions, but it’s okay because true friends will disagree with each other at some point in life.
Respecting your elders: All youth will learn why it’s important to respect their elders. They will also learn that it’s important to respect their parents even when they disagree with their actions.
First impressions are lasting impressions: All youth will learn that it’s always important to make a good first impression. They will also learn how a negative impression of themselves can stagnate their success.
Table Manners:
All youth will learn why it is important to have table manners. They will also learn the proper way to eat at a formal event.
Youth Retreats: We will have yearly retreats for all youth. The retreats will be held at a retreat center for 2-nights. We will have seminars at the retreat and a pampering session. There will be no charge for any youth that wishes to attend the retreat.
(A permission slip must be signed for each youth wishing to go on the retreat by a parent or legal guardian)
Field Trips: MINORT, Inc will sponsor field trips throughout the course of the year at no charge to the youth.

Knowing the signs of domestic violence: The youth will learn all the signs of domestic violence (physical, verbal, mental) and know how to get out of an unhealthy situation. We will have an officer from the Domestic Violence Unit come in and speak with the youth about options to leaving that situation.
Teen Pregnancy Awareness:
All youth will learn about the dangers of conceiving at an early age as well as the consequences of having unprotected sex. They will also understand how difficult it can be to raise a child without an education and how that child can suffer as a result of their decision to have a child at an early age.
Rape Victim Mentoring:
The youth will be able to express their feelings about this unfortunate situation and learn how to move past the fear of living life again. They will also speak with a crisis counselor and be led in the right direction for further counseling.
AIDS/STD Awareness:
All youth will learn about AIDS/STD’S and the symptoms associated with each disease. They will also understand that they can still contract an STD by having oral sex
Youth Transition Program:
This program is for youth that are being released from a correctional facility or a half way house. This program will work with the youth to transition them from the correctional facility to the workforce. We will contact employers on their behalf, set up interviews and follow their progress for a total of one year. If they are progressing in a positive way, we will grant them a monetary award and have a banquet in honor of their progress. Banquets will take place once a year.

In addition to the above programs, MINORT, Inc will also offer daily classes on the following topics
Who am I” the inside truth (becoming acquainted with the real YOU)
“I did, now what?” (moving past the guilt of having pre-marital sex and working towards saving yourself for marriage).
“Nightmares in the dark” (forgiving yourself for having an abortion and asking for God’s forgiveness in order to move forward).
“We’re in this thing together” (being influential to friends that are heading down the wrong path)
All youth that come to the center will be given a boxed lunch and drink free of charge.
